The Milestones in Cablenet’s development
2003: Cablenet commences operations in 2003 with the main focus being the provision of cable TV in Cyprus.
2006 (August): Cablenet is acquired by C.N. Shiacolas Group of Companies (CNS).
2007: The first stage of the expansion of the privately-owned cable network is completed in Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca.
2007 (end of): Cablenet launched the talk+surf+view package, which was the first triple-play package in the local market combining analogue TV, fixed telephony and high speed internet access, all through one connection.
From 2008: Cablenet continues to expand its cable network. In the middle of the year, the company pioneers in the telecommunications industry by offering significantly high internet speeds. This was succeeded by investing in both international capacity and domestic networks. Since then, Cablenet offers a wide range of revolutionary services which meet the needs of home users as well as the needs of all levels of business customers. This is done by combining three technologies: optical fiber, coaxial cables and telephone cables through DSL.
2009: Through its social contribution scheme, Cablenet supports the Cyprus Scouts by helping them to achieve their objectives for the year 2009-2010.
2010 (December): The launch of Cablenet’s package with internet speed of 20M. This speed was launched for the first time in the Cyprus market.
2011 (February): Cablenet gives back to the community by sponsoring the campaign “Internet: increased speeds, reducing risks.”
2011 (March): Cablenet pioneers once again by offering the fastest internet connection home package in the market with speed up to 40M!
2012 (April): Cablenet opens its second Customer Support Centre in Nicosia; its fourth centre in Cyprus.
2012 (June): Cablenet supports the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union as a Gold Sponsor. High speed telecommunication services are offered at the Nicosia International Conference Center and the offices of the Secretariat of Cyprus Presidency.
2012 (July): Cablenet pioneers once again by offering a home package with internet connection of 100M speed. This is by far the home package with the fastest connection in the market!
2013 (September): Cablenet holds 16,2% of the broadband market, a significant increase of 1% compared to the 4th quarter of 2012, according to the September 2013 statistical report of the Office of the Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (OCECPR) regarding the observation of the Broadband Connection Market.
2014 (March): Cablenet announces that it has reached a strategic share purchase agreement with GO plccompany based in Malta.
2014 (September): Cablenet and GO plc finalise their strategic agreement following the necessary regulatory approval from the Competition Authority.
Today: Cablenet is now firmly established in the local market by offering triple-play packages which include broadband internet access, fixed telephony and digital HD to more than 45.000 subscribers.
