Cablenet breaks the 10% market share barrier in mobile contract subscriptions and climbs to 3rd position, according to the OCECPR’s official data.

The market share report published by the Office of the Commissioner for Electronic Communications and Postal Regulation (OCECPR) for the Electronic Communications market until the end of 2023 was fully aligned with Cablenet’s 2023 financial performance. According to the data released in the said report, Cablenet continues to increase its mobile subscriber market share, thus confirming its leading role in the mobile telephony market, and with trends that indicate an excellent prospect for further growth.

Within two and a half years from its official launch as a fully-fledged mobile network operator in Cyprus, Cablenet successfully surpassed the 10% market share barrier for mobile contract subscriptions and climbed to 3rd position, while in the Prepaid services market, Cablenet was once again the provider that achieved the largest growth in new connections.

Specifically, Cablenet exceeded 100,000 mobile contract subscribers by the end of 2023, translating to 10.1% of the market share according to the OCECPR report. It is worth noting that the mobile contract subscriptions market increased by 53,750 subscriptions in 2023, of which 51% of this gain in subscriptions was allocated to Cablenet.

Regarding the Prepaid market, Cablenet was the mobile operator that recorded an impressive 4.9% increase in its market share during 2023, thus moving from 4.4% in 2022 to 9.3% market share by the end of 2023. This growth in prepaid market share translates to a 106% growth in its prepaid subscriber base in 2023.

Cablenet’s Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Pambos Moyseos, stated: “The official results of the Department of Electronic Communications confirms Cablenet’s dedication and determination in achieving its goals and objectives: to become the preferred choice in Telecommunication services by the public, both for its quality products and services and for its impeccable customer service. We are honored that our subscribers continue to reward us with their trust and loyalty and it encourages us to strive for even greater achievements.”

Cablenet Doubles its Employee Satisfaction Index

“Over the past year, we managed to double our employee satisfaction index. By setting a high bar for internal quality, developing a strong company culture based on our values, and conveying to staff members our vision and customer-centric philosophy, we concurrently managed to achieve a significant increase in our subscribers’ satisfaction level,” stated Cablenet’s Chief HR Officer Chrystalla Karagiorgi.

Cablenet’s ‘For a better life’ commitment starts and ends with company employees, its own people. In her remarks, Ms Karagiorgi emphasised the importance of providing a unique working environment. “We stand out due to the high quality of our services and the unique customer service experience we provide via our experienced and qualified staff. Our people define the company’s success and give value to our business strategy, which is why our employees’ satisfaction is an extremely important facet of our business activity.”

Cablenet employees experience a work environment that encourages initiative, trust, professionalism and recognition. “Friendliness and simplicity are constituents of our development and success. Steering clear of complicated procedures and adopting effective and current methods, our people are able to communicate easily, work effectively and tackle challenges successfully,” added Ms Karagiorgi.

Cablenet provides opportunities for advancement and professional growth, offering its people the chance to assume various roles during their career and gain extensive experience, knowledge and abilities. There have been many company employees who were promoted internally to other positions and have continued to develop, achieving an interesting career path. Specifically, over the past 12 months, approximately 20% of company staff were promoted to new positions.”

Ms Karagiorgi notes, “It is particularly important to us that we see our people evolve and we have never stopped giving everyone the opportunity to do so. We significantly and regularly invest in our team’s training, aiming to increase its abilities and knowledge on both a professional and personal level. We combine different types of training and use the most advanced methods and practices, such as the use of asynchronous means. At the same time, we provide the opportunity for certification, primarily in the technological sector, which we consider a necessity in our people’s development. Finally, we occasionally provide full or partial scholarships and tuition fee discounts for various universities, thus additionally investing in our staff. This way, we can grow and evolve together!”

In addition, attaching great importance to recognition and appreciation, Cablenet has proceeded in creating an alternative yet simple Professional Recognition, Appreciation and Reward Programme. In explaining the scheme, Ms Karagiorgi notes, “Any employee can give kudos to any other coworker as a mark of recognition and appreciation. Via the Kudos Programme, we aim to share and acknowledge unknown, significant, daily instances because, while some commendable actions of professionalism and collegiality are easy to recognise and reward, others are harder to spotlight. At Cablenet, we aim to reward all activities because they are important to us, just like our people! We want these unknown activities, ideas, both large and small achievements, daily actions by our people that make us proud to have the recognition they deserve! Because every good idea, activity and behaviour should be highlighted and rewarded immediately and systematically!”

People and their support at both a professional and personal level are a priority. “Physical and mental health are at the top of the list of our priorities. Through various initiatives and activities, we ensure the creation of a suitable work environment, where our staff can ensure professional and personal wellbeing, i.e. an improvement in the quality of life at both a professional and personal level, recognising that the two are intertwined with pressing demands. Specifically, over the past few years, driven by a desire to satisfy the different but simultaneously important needs of our people and their families, we began organising a series of lectures by scientists and specialists on medical matters, correct nutrition, and physical and mental health. Equally important were the lectures given by a distinguished associate professor on the subject of Financial Literacy that, among others, aimed to assist our employees in making correct financial decisions, such as those associated with loans, investments or savings.”

Privileges and benefits are therefore provided, aiming to enable balance between work, family life and free time. Specific practices have been adopted in order to ensure this, such as working hours, telecommuting, marriage leave, reduced working hours during a child’s first week of the first year of primary school, family-focused activities and events, and various other facilities. “At Cablenet, we don’t just support working mothers but working fathers too, aiming for gender equality without discrimination or stereotypes.”

In addition, great importance is attached to healthcare for employees and their families, alongside other savings and insurance provisions. Benefits are not limited to these as Cablenet offers gifts for significant moments in its staff’s personal lives, as well as free services and other discounts in collaboration with shops, restaurants and gyms for all employees. Charity events are organised where Cablenet staff are able to actively participate and contribute to society, including tree planting, food and clothing drives, and charity bazaars.

“At Cablenet, we also ensure that we have a lot of fun! Various company events, such as the annual and summer parties, events for the whole family and frequent team building activities strengthen social interaction, cooperation and communication.” In concluding, Ms Karagiorgi noted, “We believe that the image we as a company and an employer have managed to create, attracts talented and active persons who want to be part of a dynamic and evolving team.”

New job opportunities are regularly posted on Cablenet’s website Join Our Team – Cablenet Communication Systems PLC and people who would like a career in Telecommunications, in a modern and continuously developing environment, are encouraged to join the Cablenet team.

Cablenet confirmed as fastest growing telco provider in Cyprus

Record performance in 2022 reaching 40% increase in overall subscriber base and 19.4% increase in revenue. Highlights of 2022 performance:
  • 40% increase in subscriber base
  • 102% increase in Mobile Telephony Subscribers
  • 19.4% increase in revenue
  • Market leaders in customer satisfaction
  • 18% increase in employee satisfaction
Cablenet has once again proven its resiliency and adaptability with a record performance during 2022 despite the post-pandemic challenges. It has established itself as the fastest growing communications provider in Cyprus, delivering on customer demands and exceeding expectations. This is confirmed by a record 40% growth in overall subscriber base, a 102% in mobile subscriptions, which has translated into a significant 19.4% growth in revenues, reaching €63.9 million by the end of 2022. Cablenet’s innovative Purple Max Mobile product concept, which offers unlimited data allowances at prices affordable to the entire market, is the main driver behind such growth. This value proposition has led to a 134% increase in mobile revenues when compared to 2021. Commenting on this performance, Yiannos Michaelides, Cablenet CEO stated, ‘Such growth is nothing short of remarkable when one considers the economic climate in which we are operating. We are in the aftermath of a global pandemic that took the world by storm and are now facing the economic implications of the disruption brought about by the war in Ukraine. This notwithstanding, the market continued to trust us with their communications needs, during a time when demand for connectivity was ever-more critical for continued social and economic development. I am truly humbled and committed to deliver on our long-term evolutionary path towards establishing Cablenet as a national full-service, quad‑play, telecom operator by building up a mobile services business of scale, alongside our leading fixed services.’ Recognizing the need for fast speed broadband, and in line with its growth plans, Cablenet expanded its fixed services network into new areas of Cyprus. It now has an estimated aggregate coverage of 205,000 Homes passed. However, network expansion is not enough unless customers enjoy the full internet experience both inside and outside their home. Consequently, Cablenet renewed its partnership with Plume, a world leader in innovative, cloud-driven smart home and business services. As a result, Cablenet launched ‘Purple Max Internet’, a perfect complement to its mobile offering, bringing increased value in addition to the fastest, and most secure Internet service experience. Customers are recognizing Cablenet’s efforts as it retained top spot in overall Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSAT) as well as the highest Net Promotor Score (NPS) for both fixed and mobile services. ‘Whilst we continue to invest in our technology and networks, our people remain our biggest asset and its thanks to their dedication and commitment that we can achieve such results. We take their happiness and wellbeing very seriously and it gives me great pride that we also registered and 18% improvement in our employee net promotor score. Our renewed set of values, our reinvigorated culture, and our absolute focus on our employee well-being and development are providing a key component for our long-term sustainability,’ explained Yiannos. Cablenet Chairman, Nikhil Patil, expressed his satisfaction at Cablenet’s 2022 performance: “We are very excited at the progress Cablenet has made and what the future holds for this growing company. It has continued to prove its determination to bring added value to its customers and returns to its shareholders.  The ongoing transformation of Cablenet, at a time when it’s growing at an industry‑leading rate, is no easy feat. The Board and I are incredibly proud of how Cablenet’s Management and people have performed to make this feat a reality in 2022. We remain committed towards Cablenet and shall continue to support its expansion in the various areas,” said Nikhil. Cablenet remains committed to its promise of ‘Cablenet for a better life’, offering practical and simple solutions to customers to improve their everyday lives. Doing things better, greener and thinking and acting in a socially mindful context, are directions it plans to explore to increase its value‑added and contribution to the Cypriot consumers and businesses.

Cablenet Financial Statements 2021

Cablenet, reports Double-Digit Growth for 2021
  • 30% growth in Subscriber base
  • 110% growth in Mobile Subscribers
  • 14% growth in revenues

During 2021 revenue reached €53.5M, a healthy 14% growth over 2020. This double-digit growth in revenue was driven, largely by the significant growth in the overall Subscriber base, which recorded a 30% increase over the previous year.

“Achieving such an industry-leading growth rate, on the back of the challenges brought about by the pandemic, not to mention the highly penetrated and mature market environment simply demonstrates the strengths of our human assets, our strategic clarity and execution efficiency,” said Yiannos Michaelides, CEO at Cablenet.

2021 was marked by our full entry as a Mobile Network Operator in the Cyprus market. Our innovative product concept, Purple Max, which is predominately targeted towards post-paid Customers offers unlimited Data, Voice, and SMS allowances, at prices affordable to the entire market, fully reflecting our traditional “value” proposition to consumers,” explained Mr Michaelides.  “As a result of our mobile entry, we have experienced an increase of around 110% in our mobile Subscriber base to reach over 46,000 Mobile Subscribers and an increase of 157% in our mobile service revenue. Our market share in the post-paid mobile segment has subsequently grown by approximately 3 percentage points, a very notable increase by all market standards in such a short period of time,” he continued.

This strong endorsement by the market encouraged further investment in its Mobile Network, in particular its 4G and 5G frequency spectrum.

On the fixed services side, solid growth continued, recording increased momentum in the second half of 2021 where Cablenet captured 62% of the market net additions. The expansion of the Network into new areas of Cyprus continued to meet demand from both homes and businesses, honoring Cablenet’s commitment to cover approximately 80% of the country’s households. We have now reached in an aggregate coverage of c.193,000 Homes Passed. The above expansion was also accompanied by our continued commitment to deliver faster speeds to our Customers and add to the resilience and overall performance of our Network and as a result, unparalleled Customer Experience.

Cablenet also embarked on the renewal of its TV offering, with the launch of additional Sports and other thematic channels. Sports TV Customers in fact grew by 20% during the period under review.

“We are committed to making a difference in the market and this is marked by the introduction of our new Brand tagline ‘Cablenet For a Better Life’. Our ambition is to translate our commercial, operational and technological innovation into tangible benefits to our Customers, and in doing so, leave a positive impact on the community and the environment. This commitment and our concerted efforts have been recognized by our customers, as we have taken the lead in terms of Customer satisfaction in both Fixed and Mobile Services,” said Mr Michaelides.

Our long-term strategic objective remains the same – to continue growing our market shares in all services which can be delivered on a national basis. To that end, we will need to remain focused on the tools that are crucial to us achieving that objective, our brand equity, our human talent and our Customers, and an undeniable passion for excellence,” concluded Mr. Michaelides.

Commenting on these results, Cablenet’s Chairman Nikhil Patil, and CEO at GO plc said: “We are truly encouraged by the stellar performance of the company in 2021. These results are testament to the forward-looking strategy which the Company’s executive management team has crafted and executed. We are excited by what the future holds as we continue to leverage on the strengths of both companies, and gain efficiencies across the Group, in order to drive increased value for our respective Customers and shareholders.”
