Cablenet and the GO Group: A Unified Blueprint for Cyprus’s Digital Future.

Cablenet Communication Systems, empowered by GO Group, Malta’s leading telecoms and digital services group.

For over 50 years, GO plc has been at the forefront of telecoms and digital innovation in Malta. Today, that strength and expertise underpin Cablenet in Cyprus. Backed by GO’s heritage, scale, and vision, Cablenet is evolving from an “alternative” operator into a significant force in the Cypriot digital landscape, supported by the capabilities and long-term commitment of a larger international group.

The Cablenet and GO journey began in 2014, with the past year marking a period of focused transformation. This has not only aimed to start reshaping Cablenet’s culture but also strengthened its position in the market. By leveraging GO’s expertise and scale, while remaining closely attuned to the sensitivities of the Cypriot market, Cablenet is building a stronger, more competitive future.

A Legacy of Digital Innovation – And Much More

GO’s story began in 1975. Today it is a fully fledged quad-play operator – mobile, broadband, fixed line and TV – serving over half a million residential and business customers across the Maltese Islands. Its scale is considerable: 2025 revenues reached €254.4 million, up 3.9% year-on-year, with profit rising 31.7% to €20.7 million.

But GO’s ambitions have long outgrown traditional telecoms. Recognising that its customers’ digital needs extend far beyond voice and data, GO has built a diversified portfolio of businesses that collectively address the full spectrum of modern digital life. Today the Group operates across data centres, consumer electronics, green and renewable energy, healthcare technology, data analytics, the Internet of Things and cybersecurity. This is not a collection of peripheral ventures – it is a deliberate strategic evolution, positioning GO as a comprehensive digital services group capable of serving customers at every point where technology touches their lives, their homes and their businesses. For Cablenet, this breadth is a direct competitive advantage: it means customers and partners in Cyprus are backed not just by a telecoms operator, but by a group with the capability, the vision and the resources to meet the digital demands of today – and those that are still emerging.

GO’s infrastructure credentials reinforce this further. The Group recently completed a €100 million nationwide fibre-to-the-home rollout delivering speeds of up to 10 Gbps, and operates three diverse submarine cables connecting Malta to Sicily, France, Egypt and Asia – providing the resilient, high-capacity international backbone that an increasingly data-hungry world demands.

All of this flows directly to Cablenet. As a fully recognized GO subsidiary, Cablenet inherits GO’s full technological and digital depth

– benefiting from its Giga speed network expertise as it rolls out gigabit speeds across Cyprus, and from the Group’s broader digital capabilities to serve the evolving needs of Cypriot customers.

Financial Strength and Long-Term Commitment

GO’s financial position gives Cablenet a stability that few rivals can match. Since 2019, GO has paid over €162 million in dividends to shareholders – even while investing heavily in new technology. As Group CEO and Cablenet Chairperson Nikhil Patil puts it: “Doing the right thing for customers and doing the right thing for shareholders are not competing priorities. They are the same priority.”

GO’s commitment to Cyprus spans over a decade. During the 2014 banking crisis, GO was among the top foreign investors in the country. Since then, approximately €70 million has been deployed into the market, with a further €75 million committed over the next five years – earmarked for 10 Gbps fibre upgrades, 5G expansion, enhanced in-home WiFi, and customer service improvements. This is a deliberate, long-term digital strategy, not a speculative position.

Cablenet CEO Ioannis Mavridis has been clear: GO, views Cablenet as a strategic asset, and the Group will continue funding network expansion and digital innovation in Cyprus. The benefits of Group membership are tangible – shared technical expertise across fibre, LTE/5G, cloud and cybersecurity; group-wide buying power and engineering resources; and the financial backing to invest at scale without jeopardy.

Cablenet’s Growth and Group Synergy

The results of this partnership are evident. In 2025, Cablenet grew revenues to €69.7 million, expanded its mobile subscriber base by 9% to approximately 171,000 customers following the launch of 5G and unlimited plans, and extended household fibre coverage to over 235,000 premises. It also became the first Cypriot operator to bundle premium digital content – specifically HBO – directly into its offering.

Cablenet’s 400 – plus workforce is supported by GO specialists and Group companies spanning consumer electronics, cybersecurity, cloud services and energy management – part of a combined Group team of nearly 1,700 digital professionals. For customers, partners, vendors, regulators and investors, the message is unambiguous: they are dealing with a single, unified digital group, not two separate entities.

Strengthening the Employer Brand

Group membership also enhances Cablenet’s standing as an employer. Colleagues across service centres and stores in Nicosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Famagusta have access to GO’s learning and development programmes, technology laboratories and broader career pathways. Prospective employees gain affiliation with a group active across telecoms, energy transition and digital retail – a meaningful differentiator in the Cypriot market.

Looking Ahead – A United Digital Future

Any notion of Cablenet as a minor challenger is difficult to sustain when it sits fully embedded within a €250 million revenue enterprise backed by Malta’s largest telecommunications and digital services group. Nikhil Patil is direct about what comes next: “With continued investment, and with the dedication of our employees, we believe Cablenet can become one of the most trusted digital brands in Cyprus – a company that Cyprus can be proud of.”

GO and Cablenet are two parts of one growing organisation, united by a shared commitment to building Cyprus’s digital future. GO plc is not merely an investor in Cyprus. It is the power fueling Cablenet’s success – and driving the country’s digital transformation.

Cablenet Financial Results 2025 header

Cablenet Powers Up: Giga Internet, 5G Unlimited and HBO Signal a New Era for Cyprus Connectivity.

Financial performance in 2025 is a clear indication of Cablenet’s transformation into Cyprus’ digital lifestyle partner of choice!

Cablenet Communication Systems PLC has recently announced its financial results for the year ended 31 December 2025, reporting revenue of €69.7 million. More than a financial milestone, 2025 stands as a year of deliberate, ambitious investment, one in which Cablenet fundamentally reset its product portfolio, accelerated its network expansion and reinforced its long-term commitment to delivering smarter, simpler and more valuable experiences for every customer across Cyprus.

Reflecting on the year, Chairman Nikhil Patil noted that Cablenet‘s approach remains resolutely long-term and disciplined: Cablenet remains a strategic asset for the GO Group and an important contributor to Cyprus’ digital future. The progress achieved in 2025 reinforces our confidence in the company’s growth trajectory, and we remain committed to investing in the infrastructure, capabilities and people that will build sustainable value for years to come.”

At the core of this progress was a bold transformation of Cablenet‘s product ecosystem, built around three clear principles: simplicity, transparency and outstanding customer service. The company launched Giga-speed home internet with Same-Day activation and a 30-Day Try & Buy guarantee, giving customers the freedom to connect instantly with complete confidence and crucially, with no long-term commitment required. This customer-first philosophy extended across the entire new portfolio, from flexible TV entertainment passes to the flagship 5G Unlimited mobile plans starting from just €10 monthly, all designed to give Subscribers greater control, fewer restrictions and real, tangible value.

Mobile growth remained a defining story of the year, with Cablenet‘s subscriber base growing to approximately 171,000, a 9% increase driven by the successful launch of 5G services and the new 5G Unlimited portfolio. These plans offer unlimited data, premium entertainment and seamless international connectivity, purpose-built for the always-connected lifestyles of modern customers.

“This is more than a product refresh. It is a complete reset of what Subscribers should expect from their digital provider,” said CEO Ioannis Mavridis. “We listened carefully to our Subscribers. They want faster access, fewer restrictions, transparent value and total flexibility. Our new portfolio delivers exactly that across mobile, internet, TV and everything that comes next.”

On the fixed network side, Cablenet continued its significant infrastructure investment, expanding its footprint to 235,000 homes now directly connected, passed or covered. This expansion reflects the company’s ambition to bring future-ready, high-speed connectivity to the majority of households and businesses in Cyprus, building the physical foundation upon which the country’s digital future will be shaped. Complementing this was the landmark arrival of HBO in Cyprus, a first-of-its-kind collaboration between a telecom operator and the HBO platform, bringing world-class content to Cablenet Subscribers through integrated bundles spanning internet, TV and streaming.

In the business segment, Cablenet continued to deepen its presence, growing its base to 5,198 businesses served with integrated broadband, cloud and connectivity solutions tailored to enterprises of every scale. The company sees significant ongoing potential in this segment, underpinned by sustained demand for reliable, high-performance digital infrastructure.

Looking ahead, Mavridis is confident about the Company’s direction: “2025 was a year of real transformation. We launched Giga Internet with no commitment, rolled out 5G Unlimited, brought HBO to Cyprus for the first time, and expanded our network to 235,000 homes. But this is just the beginning. Our Subscribers can expect a continuous flow of innovation, always guided by one principle: putting their real needs at the centre of everything we do.”

Cablenet enters 2026 with clear momentum, expanding its mobile and fibre footprint, enhancing its digital services and content offering, and continuing to build its position as Cyprus’ leading full digital lifestyle partner for homes, families and businesses alike.

Cablenet Brings Seamless Connectivity to Every Corner of the Home with Smart WiFi

As part of Cablenet’s New Era of Connectivity and Entertainment, the company is strengthening its home connectivity ecosystem with Smart WiFi, which is an intelligent in-home networking solution designed to deliver strong, stable and seamless internet coverage in every room of the house.

In today’s digital households, connectivity no longer stops at the front door. From remote working and online learning, to streaming, gaming and smart devices, families now rely on uninterrupted WiFi across multiple rooms, floors and devices — often all at the same time. Yet for many users, weak signals, dead zones and inconsistent speeds remain a daily frustration.

Smart WiFi solves this challenge by intelligently extending and optimising WiFi coverage throughout the entire home, ensuring that every device, in every room, performs at its best.

Unlike traditional routers which could potentially struggle to push consistent coverage beyond a central room, Smart WiFi uses advanced mesh technology to distribute the signal evenly across the home. This means:

  • No more dead zones in bedrooms, balconies or home offices
  • Smooth streaming and gaming without buffering or lag
  • Stable video calls and remote working from any room
  • Seamless connectivity as users move throughout the house

All devices automatically connect to the strongest available signal, without the need for manual switching.

“Today’s homes are fully digital environments, with multiple users and devices competing for speed and stability,” said Ioannis Mavridis, CEO of Cablenet. “Smart WiFi is about removing frustration from everyday connectivity. It ensures that customers experience the full power of their internet connection exactly where they need it — in every corner of their home.”

Smart WiFi plays a central role in Cablenet’s wider transformation strategy, supporting the seamless interaction between Home Internet, TV and Mobile services.  It completes the promise of a truly integrated digital ecosystem, where speed, entertainment and mobility work together effortlessly.

“Fast internet is only as good as where it reaches,” added Mavridis. “Smart WiFi ensures that Cablenet’s Fast Internet performance is actually experienced everywhere.”

Smart WiFi is designed for simplicity. Once installed, the system works automatically in the background, continuously adapting to usage patterns, device demand and home layout.

Combined with Cablenet’s Same-Day Internet activation, 30-Day Try & Buy guarantee, and next-generation broadband speeds, Smart WiFi ensures that customers enjoy connectivity without compromise — from the street to the sofa, the desk, and every room in between.

The launch of Smart WiFi represents another key milestone in Cablenet’s New Era of Connectivity and Entertainment, complementing the company’s recent Mobile, Home Internet and TV portfolio launches. Together, they form one unified promise: simple, powerful, customer-driven digital experiences without limits. Smart WiFi is now available nationwide through all Cablenet stores, while customers can call 130 for more information.

Cablenet presents its clear and confident long-term vision at a press gathering

Cablenet Sets Out a Clear, Long-Term Vision Focused on Simplicity, Trust and Digital Investment in Cyprus

Cablenet outlined a clear and confident long-term vision for the company during a full press briefing held earlier today, reaffirming its commitment to simplicity, transparency and sustained investment in Cyprus’s digital future.

The briefing marked a deliberate step in Cablenet’s renewed engagement with the media, focusing not on short-term announcements, but on providing clarity, context and a deeper understanding of how the company is transforming the way connectivity is delivered across mobile, internet and TV.

“Today is not about announcements or headlines. It is about clarity — making connectivity easier to understand, easier to choose, and easier to trust,” said Ioannis Mavridis, CEO of Cablenet.

At the centre of Cablenet’s strategy is a simple principle: customers should not need to be experts in telecommunications to understand their service. This philosophy is shaping how Cablenet designs its products, prices its services and communicates with customers — with a focus on reducing complexity, avoiding surprises and delivering a predictable, reliable experience.

In practical terms, this approach translates into clearer pricing, simpler bundles and services that work together seamlessly, allowing customers to focus on who they want to connect with, rather than how they connect.

“Clarity is not a marketing tactic for us; it is a strategic choice,” added Mavridis. “Over time, it builds trust, and trust builds long-term relationships.”

Cablenet operates as a challenger in the Cypriot telecommunications market, but the company stressed that challenging the market does not require noise or exaggerated claims. Instead, Cablenet’s approach is confident and measured, centred on consistency, delivery and allowing customers to experience the difference first-hand.

Addressing the broader context behind Cablenet’s transformation, Chairman Nikhil Patil underlined the long-term commitment of the company’s majority shareholder, GO Group, to both Cablenet and Cyprus.

Companies like Cablenet play a critical role in powering the digital lives of societies. Investing in a country’s digital future is not a short-term project — it is a

long game,” said Patil. “It means investing in infrastructure, in people and in society over decades, not quarters.”

Patil highlighted that “GO Group began investing in Cyprus more than a decade ago, including during the financial crisis, when long-term confidence was limited. Since then, the Group has invested approximately over 100 million in Cablenet, supporting its growth into one of the country’s leading telecommunications providers”.

Our belief in Cablenet and in Cyprus is as strong and as clear as ever,” he said. “Cablenet today is a credible, long-term operator with the scale, people and backing needed to compete seriously and responsibly in this market.”

Cablenet currently serves more than 170,000 mobile customers and close to 100,000 internet customers, supported by a team of around 400 employees across Cyprus. The company noted that this scale brings with it a responsibility to invest carefully, deliver consistently and maintain the trust of customers and partners alike.

Looking ahead, Cablenet described its transformation as an ongoing journey, with continued focus on strengthening digital infrastructure, improving customer experience and building long-term trust.

As GO Group, we are deeply committed to Cyprus because we are genuinely excited about what lies ahead for Cablenet,” concluded Patil, “With continued investment, with the dedication of our employees, and with the strong partnership of the highly respected Shiacolas family, we believe Cablenet can become one of the most trusted digital brands in Cyprus, and a company that Cyprus can be proud of.
